Published systematic reviews describe their use for non-surgical facial tightening and rejuvenation, while also showing that protocols, devices, outcome measures and patient selection vary across studies.
In practical terms, HIFU is usually discussed when the main goal is tightening rather than surface resurfacing. It does not include an intraoral laser step and does not use an Er:YAG surface peel. That can make it conceptually simpler, but it does not mean it is automatically stronger or more appropriate.
Comfort can also differ.
